Robert L. "Bob" Compton


Robert L. "Bob" Compton, 70, of Springfield, died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007.

He was born September 7, 1936 in Springfield, Ohio to Oliver and Violet (Conner) Compton. He had been employed as a tool and dye maker at General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of First Christian Church and enjoyed boating, camping, collecting die cast cars, NASCAR Racing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 49½ years who lovingly cared for him during his long illness; three children and spouses, Lori Compton-Balzer of Springfield, Richard and Lori Beth Compton of St. Paris and Kelli and Eric Kelley of Springboro; four grandchildren, Chris Compton, Seth Balzer and Brendon and Kensington Kelley; two sisters and spouses, Phyllis and Fred Fisher and Marge and Doug Snider; one brother and spouse, John and Denise Compton and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Vankatesh, Dr.Chadha, Dr. To and "T" Arnold for their special care and kindness.

He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Nancy Badgley.

Friends may call from 11-1:30 p.m. Saturday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Neil Haney and Mr. John Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. If you wish, memorial donations may be made to the Moorefield Township Fire and Emergency, 1616 Moorefield Road, Springfield, Ohio 45503.
