Richard A. Campbell


Richard A. Campbell, 83 of Springfield died on Saturday, December 1, 2007 in Community Hospital.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio on March 5, 1924, the son of John Arthur and Orma Irene (Smith) Campbell.

Dick was a 53 year member of Anthony Lodge #455 F & AM and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. His hobbies included boating, flying single engine planes, fishing, woodworking, and especially riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his father. Dick had been a barber for over 55 years, beginning with his father at the corner of Center and State streets.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bette Love Campbell in 1984; infant sister Louise Carol Campbell; and great-grandson Gabriel Jones.

Dick has left to cherish his memory one daughter and son in law Kathleen Love and Larry Jones of Springfield; three sisters Marion Sanderson of Gainesville, Texas, Jean Clark of Fremont, and Helen Schreiber of Columbus; four grandchildren Richard, Scott, and Christopher (Ann) Jones all of Springfield, Amy (Brian) Lanter of Columbus; five great-grandchildren Rebbecca, Abbey, Brandon, Michael, and Shamblin Jones; special friend Mary Jane Ziegler of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call Tuesday from 4-7PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Masonic services at 6:00PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00PM in the memorial home with Pastor Daniel Powell of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to your favorite charity.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Dudney, Forest Glen Health Campus, and Community Hospital 3 South for their loving care and support.
