Donald Lee Casey


Donald Lee Casey, 65, of Springfield, passed away Monday, December 17, 2007 in his residence.

He was born August 10, 1942 in Springfield the son of Harold and Evelyn ( Clifton) Casey.

Donald worked for many years for David Jones Construction and later as a driver for Lee Coy Beer Distributors. He then taught auto body repair in Piqua, Ohio at the J. V. S. where he was retired form. He moved to Louisiana for a while. When he returned to Ohio he ended up living with his son and ex wife with whom he remained friends up until his death, Cheryl Casey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Sonny, a sister Patty and a son whom was stillborn.

He is survived by three sons; Donald Jr. and Michael Casey of Texas and James Casey of Springfield, two daughters Patricia Ann Rowe of St. Paris and Mary Ruf of Springfield, three grandchildren from Springfield; Ashley, Nick and Ryan Casey. He is also survived by one great grandson Jaesen who was the light of his life. They were great buddies. Jaesen was Grampa's little man and they adored each other. Other survivors include a brother Jeff "Buddy" (Dorothy) Casey of Springfield, two sisters Cheryl "Cheri"( Ed) Moore and Margie Smith also of Springfield and many nephews, nieces, cousins and family. He had three step children he raised; Joshua ( Tammy ), Jamie and his family and Rachael Gambill from the Greenville area. They carried a special place in his heart.

He loved to watch the races, football, read westerns and play a hand held Yahtzee game that was attached to him like a remote control. Although he will be sadly missed here - we know he has been welcomed home by his Mom and Dad and family in Heaven, never to suffer anymore.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Jerry Krieg officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eternal Life Ministries.
