Claude I. Cox, Jr.


Claude I. "CC" Cox Jr., 29 of Springfield, passed away May 29, 2008.

He was born June 10, 1978 in Los Angeles, California a son of Cheryl Steptoe and Claude Cox Sr.

He was a 1997 graduate of Springfield North High School and the JVS Culinary Program. "CC" was a son, a brother, a father, a man, a friend. He was a loving father whose greatest influence and passion was his daughter, Jayda.

He leaves behind a legacy of love including his mother and stepfather; Cheryl Steptoe-Simon and Michael Simon Sr. of Fredericksburg, Virginia, brother; Michael "Tony" Steptoe of Columbus, Ohio, daughter; Jayda Marie Cox and her mother; Lisa Lovelace, special friend and extra special nephew; Isaiah J. Steptoe-Ruyf. He also leaves to cherish his memory many friends and children who loved him as an uncle.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother; Helen G. Steptoe.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Trinity AME Church. Funeral services will follow in the church at 12:30 p.m. with Dr. LaCreta M. Clark, pastor of St. Paul AME Church, Urbana, Ohio, officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Burial Park. The family will receive friends at 732 Hartford Drive.
