Fern Napier Combs Brown


Fern Napier Combs Brown 87, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away Saturday December 29, 2007 at Springmeade Nursing Home, Tipp City, Ohio.

First born of thirteen children, November 7, 1920 in Ary, Kentucky the daughter of the late Fred & Laurcena (Engle) Napier.

She attended Lee Junior College with a major in education. She taught in the Perry County School System for several years before moving to Dayton, Ohio. She later graduated from Wittenberg University and taught elementary school for many years at Bethel Local & Wayne Township Schools.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil; a son, Phil and his wife Virginia Combs of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandsons, Chad & Sean; a brother, A.B. Napier; sisters, Ruth Bailey, Ivy Vick, Eva Timmons, Clara Kavula, Gloria Walsh; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters and brothers; Orpha Patrick, Odra Wright, Arza Napier, Laurel Turner, Rachel Coleman, and Arthur Napier.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 4-7 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Chaplain Pam Linderson officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Hospice of Miami County, P.O. Box 502, Troy, Ohio 45373.
