Darrel E. Bishop


Bishop, Darrel E., 60, of Winter Haven, FL and formerly of Springfield died Monday evening in his residence surrounded by his loving family following several months of serious illness.

He was born May 13, 1947 in Urbana, Ohio the son of Clemet and Anna Lee (Trimble) Rutan.

He retired in 2001 from Navistar after 37½ years of service. He attended 1st Christian Church of Haines City, Florida. Darrel was a member of UAW Local 402, past member of the Springfield Golf Commission, he was an avid golfer in the Springfield area for many years and was instrumental in the forming the Friday night mixed league at Snyder Park.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-nine years Carol A. (Green) Bishop, daughter and son-in-law Kelli Ann and Bert Hunt, Enon, Ohio, four grandchildren Jordan, Jacob, Corey and Christian Hunt all of Enon, OH, a brother Dan Bishop, South Bend, IN, sister Denise Brooks, Urbana, Ohio, stepfather Phillip Rutan, two ½ brothers and a sister-in-law David Rutan, Dean and Tonya Rutan all of Urbana, Ohio, two aunts and uncles Rev. Robert and Nancy Trimble, Grand Blanc, Michigan and Opaline and Robert Minnich, Lakeview, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the Conroy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Trimble officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the 1st Christian Church, 705 South 14th St, Haines City, FL 33844 or Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
