Clarence Richard Bailey


Clarence Richard Bailey, 92, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Eaglewood Care Center.

He was born April 29, 1915 in Pomeroy, Ohio, Ebenezer Avenue (Lower Monkey Run), the son of William Raymond and Florence (Hamm) Bailey.

Mr. Bailey was a member of First United Church of Christ, Springfield, Ohio. He graduated from Pomeroy High school in 1933. He was the pipe organist at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pomeroy, Ohio from 1934 until 1940. Mr. Bailey was a W.W.II Veteran, serving with the Army Air Force, Second Air Force, as an instructor for the B-25. He later served in the Twenty First Air Force in the South Pacific and with the Tenth Air Force for the B-29. He was a member of the American Legion and Elderly United.

He retired from Gilbert Trailer and Tool Rental, a business he owned and operated for over forty years.

Mr. Bailey is survived by two sons: Rev. Richard M. (Sandy) Bailey, Indianapolis, Indiana and by Michael W. (Carole) Bailey, Springfield, Ohio, a sister Jane Bailey of Columbus, Ohio and special niece and friend Pat Sprinkle. He was preceded in death by his wife Leona Mae (Dolly) Bailey and by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 PM Tuesday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Neil Haney, Vineyard Church of Northridge, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
