Vincent A. Abbey, Jr.


Vincent A. Abbey, Jr., 78, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Springfield Masonic Community. He was born in Cincinnati on March 17, 1939, the son of the late Vincent A. Abbey Sr. and Marion Abbey.

Vincent was a 1957 graduate of Springfield High School. He married the late Mary M. Abbey on January 26, 1962.

He leaves behind three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Anna Abbey of North Carolina, Andrew and Michelle Abbey of Springfield, and Dan and Angie Abbey of Urbana; nine grandchildren, Monica (Eric) Turja, Rebecca Abbey of North Carolina, Josh and Kirsten Abbey of Springfield, Chase Liam, and Griffin Abbey of Urbana, Jordan and Ethan Edwards of Urbana; two great-grandchildren, James and Roy Turja and a great-granddaughter coming in April. Also surviving are three brothers and a sister, Charles Abbey, Jay Abbey, Alan Abbey and Barbara Fields, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Fink, Dr. Lefever, and Dr. Pamela Bucklew for the many years of helping Vincent.

In December of 1965, Vincent began his career at Greyhound Bus Station with his father. In 1985, Vincent took over as the agency operator of the station. He enjoyed seeing all the travelers reach their destinations. He was a member of Morningstar Lodge #795, and a mason since 1977.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Ohio Masonic Home Auditorium from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Masonic services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with his funeral service immediately following officiated by Chaplain Bruce Vincent. Burial at Vale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Springfield Masonic Community in Vincent's memory. Arrangements entrusted to Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center. Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com
