Mary Margaret (Campbell) Abbey
Mary Margaret "Peggy" (Campbell) Abbey, 74, of Springfield, passed away Saturday morning, January 2, 2016, following an illness. She was born in Springfield on March 29, 1941, the daughter of the late George W. Campbell and Mary (McWhorter) Campbell.
Peggy was a 1961 graduate of Shawnee High School. She married Vincent A. Abbey, Jr. on January 26, 1962 and they celebrated almost 54 years of marriage.
She leaves her 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Anna Abbey of North Carolina, Andrew and Michelle Abbey of Springfield, and Dan and Angie Abbey of Urbana; 9 grandchildren, Monica (Eric) Truja, Rebecca Abbey of North Carolina, Josh and Kirsten Abbey of Springfield, Chase Liam and Griffin Abbey of Urbana, Jordan and Ethan Edwards of Urbana, 2 great-grandson, James and Roy Truja of North Carolina. Also surviving is a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ann Campbell of Springfield, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and bother in law and sisters in law.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Pius Kurian , Dr. Kevin Ahern, Dr. Scott Kellogg, the nurses and staff of 4 North Oncology at Springfield Regional and the nurses at Community Mercy Hospice for the care given to Peggy during her illness.
A service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Ohio Masonic Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Chaplain Bruce Vincent officiating. Burial to follow at Vale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Springfield Masonic Community in Peggy's memory.
