John W. Atkins


John W. Atkins, 85, of Medway, Ohio passed away Wednesday July 2, 2008 in Xenia, Ohio.

He was born December 12, 1922 in Surry County, North Carolina the son of the late George & Fannie (Slaton) Atkins.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII with the 817th Engineer Aviation Battalion in the CBI theatre. He then entered the U.S. Air Force serving in Greenland with an engineer unit. He was a retired aircraft mechanic from Wright Patterson A.F.B.

He is survived by his wife, Margareth (Aschenbrenner); a sister-in-law, Judith Hill; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends in Michigan & North Carolina.

Military burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday July 8, 2008 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. Arrangements by the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio
