Donald A. Alexander


Donald A. Alexander, 75, of Yellow Springs, passed away Sunday September 14, 2008. He was born May 6, 1933 the son of Charles M. and Beatrice (Heider) Alexander in Yellow Springs.

Donald grew up on the family farm on Bryan Rd and graduated from Bryan High School in 1951. He was employed at Vernay Laboratory for thirty plus years and St. Paul Catholic Church in Yellow Springs, where he continued working until his accident in December 2006. He was a life long member of St. Paul and served in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. Don had a special love to be with his grandchildren, and enjoyed flower gardening and traveling.

He is survived by his son, Stephen M. (Lesley Goldsmith) Alexander and granddaughter, Rose all of Canton, MA; grandson, Justin M. Alexander of Houten, The Netherlands; two brothers, John F. Alexander and James G. Alexander both of Yellow Springs; three sisters, Sister Teresa E. Alexander of Maryknoll, NY, Clara Ann Belval of Hyde Park VT, and Patricia Alexander of Yellow Springs; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Diane M. (Donley) Alexander; his parents; three brothers Edward, Joseph and Bill Alexander; two nephews, Michael Alexander, and Timothy Alexander; niece, Mary Ann Alexander.

Friends may call 5-8PM Thursday September 18, 2008 in the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS Funeral Home, Yellow Springs. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Friday September 19, 2008 in the St. Paul Catholic Church, Yellow Springs.
