Alice Andrew


Alice Andrew, 89, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away Saturday June 28, 2008.

She was born September 15, 1918 in New Carlisle the daughter of the late Quincy & Ada (Moon) Andrew.

She graduated from Olive Branch High School in 1935. She went to Baptist Missionary Training (BMTS) school in Chicago. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Bridgeport and Stephney Baptist Church, Monroe Connecticut. Did missionary work in the Midwest through BMTS. Worked for the YWCA and was a member of the council of churches with Greater Bridgeport. She was a probation officer and director with the Juvenile Detention Center Bridgeport retiring in 1983. She started the Children's Church at Bethel Baptist, where she grew up and was a member.

She is survived by a sister, Sharon Andrew Seals; nieces and nephews, Doris Christian of Springfield, Mary Seals of New Carlisle, Michelle Fitzsimmons-Driver of North Carolina, Robert Seals of New Carlisle, Alan Tyree of Katoomba, Australia, P.J. Fitzsimmons of Virginia and Jonathan Fitzsimmons of New Mexico; lifetime friend, Marilyn Ware; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Tyree Roush and Rhea Andrew Fitzsimmons.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday July 1, 2008 at the Chapel of Peace, Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with visitation at 12:30 in the chapel. Arrangements by TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, 6425 New Carlisle Pike, New Carlisle, Ohio 45344.
